two wise men told me two, extraordinarily passionable things

that have been heavy on my heart lately, two wise men

first there was Mr. Calvin Corbitt, the Pastor from Syds church

i remember one morning, i believe it was the morning after Kings Fest, we hadnt gotten any sleep and we were practically passing out everywhere. So we were in Hardees for youth, and i was half-asleep, but i was still listening to everything he was saying, and he asked us "Do you remember what the 3 things are that will overall impact and change your life ?", and of course i didnt remember them because i wasnt there when he talked about it, but i was exclusively interested in it, you can never learn too much about how to be come more philosophically multifaceted.

So he tells us, the 3 things that will change your life, 3 things that will basically show you where you'll be 20 years from now, these three things are : the books you read, the places you go, and what you watch on television. I was amazed at this because, haha, what if you dont read any books, and you dont go anywhere, and you dont watch any television. Then your life won't ever seem to change.

I concluded, since i had forgotten what the main lesson he was that he was teaching, I concluded that in fact, if you read books like "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne, and youre a christian believer, it will lessen your faith, because this book teaches you to believe that YOU are God, that YOU rule the universe, that YOU have the power, and so on and so forth, basically going against everything that Christians believe in, it would be an incredulous act of blasphemy.

If you dont go to any new places, then your life will never seem to pick up, there will never be any variety, spice, spontaneity, you will never meet or see new things or new people. Never going anywhere new, will keep you in that close-minded state, and your mind will never be re-newed, you wont have half the knowledge of the world, and of yourself if you never get up and go.

Yet, if you go to places like, hahaha strip clubs, bars, casinos. Places where youre tempted in every aspect of your life, whether youre married and you go to a strip club, thats basically self-explanatory. Whether youre thousands of dollars in dept, yet you get a bonus on your paycheck and you go to the casino, just to "have a good time". haha, whether youve recently been divorced, layed off, lost a loved one, what have you, and your a borderline alcoholic, a bar is the only place you know, the only place that makes sense to you. It will lead to compulsion, crave, habit, infatuation, need, obsession, an addiction.

hmmm, and if you watch things like Real Sex, or Jerry Springer, or whateve else is on tv that challenges your views. (although, i dont have a problem with either because i've watched about every tv show on tv, it only teaches you what you dont know) If you watch CNN, day in and day out, when the only segments are pertaining to the war on Iraq, that might convince some people into joining the Marine Corps, or the Coast Guard, or Navy, etc. If you watch Dr. Phil, that might encourage you to become a psychiatrist, or a marriage counselor. and if you watch E! where theres nothing but the celebrity life, gossip, and whatnot, watching these artificial celebrities is subconciously telling you to be like them, this is why our body images are so warped and destructed, im mostly referring to the young female population.

i dont know if ive made a point at all, just somethings that crossed my mind this morning when i was watching church on tv, lol

so, if you DO watch those sermons on television, if you DO listen to gospel music, and if you ONLY go to church...isnt that all only leading to one certain type of life? the Christian life

...he got me good

NOW! for the second wise man, i dont really think i ever got his last name, but let me tell you a story about him. I met him oh? maybe 8 months ago, he was a homeless man, he had a New Yorker accent, and his name was Robert. One day, me and my ex beau were strolling along the art gallery downtown, when we came across him, i was introduced, and he seemed to be absolutely fascinated at my beauty and vibe, he asked my ex how he got a girl like me. I was impressed, and intrigued.

Later that evening, we ran into him again, at a little soul food restaurant, apparently he was a regular, and they warmly gave him a coffee, so we sat down with him in the booth, and he asked us all of the most lovely questions about ourselves. my ex had told me that he has all the secrets to life, so i was draw in to find out what these secrets would be. He was extremely real, and inquisitive, and genuine, so i appreciated that in this man whom i had just met.

and there was one thing that he told us, he had asked if we were church goers, and he asked some more questions, but then he came to tell us one thing that would change my outlook on life and relationships, even though i had heard this all before, we've ALL heard this one all before, but it had especially made impausible sense that night, "a couple that prays together, stays together", hmm so that stayed heavy on my heart, and my God, i prayed every fucking night haha

yet, it takes two for a relationship to work, not one...

and then later on, he told us something else, that would change my personal stance on life, for the rest of my life, he said : "the first thing you put before God, is the first thing you lose"

and that scared the hell out of me, because from that day on, I made it my duty to never cross that line, and from that day on...I never saw Robert ever again

so I came up with my own conclusion about this man that had absolutely nothing in life, yet he had the wisdom and knowledge to build an empire, this man who had no home, who had no stability, yet he had the passion and faith, for godsakes he had the FAITH, and he seemed pained, i could see it in his eyes, i could hear it in his voice, i could feel it in his presence, that he was so sure . and that absolutely amazed me, brought me to bewilderment. because out of all the people who have subsequently melded my life with their words and beliefs, this man whom i had never come into contact with, had blown me away and brought up a stir in my mind that i had never thought before.

So i made another one of my conclusions, a conclusion about this man and his purpose in life, the only thing that i am able to believe about him, is that he was merely, and in fact an Angel

and thats it :)

Hi there. One of your pinhole photos caught my eye on the front page. I think you have something there. I have to say I find your b&w photos much more interesting than your color ones. Keep up the good work.
